A lot of productions today chase the same look — colorful, unmotivated lighting, constant cuts, a finish that’s technically clean and completely forgettable. It’s what I call the Netflix Effect, and it’s everywhere.

After twelve years behind a camera, what I keep coming back to is the opposite of that. The films from the 90s and 2000s that still hold up weren’t trying to impress you… they were too busy pulling you into the moment. That’s what I’m trying to do on every project: protect the moment, don’t distract from it.
